About Me

After completing my Masters in Counselling Psychology, I pursued further training in Post Graduate Diploma in Expressive Arts Therapy for one and a half years. This training equipped me to work using arts with diverse populations (both Neurodivergent and Neurotypical Groups and Individuals) in organizations, and NGOs.

The shift in how we view Mental Health and Illness today has largely been the guiding factor of my further trainings and interests. From pathologization of symptoms to moving to an integrative approach to therapy which accounts for the understanding of Somatics and how ninety percent of our symptoms are physiological in nature, pushed me to integrate Arts into my practice to work with the body. My work in sessions using Expressive Arts Therapy has been around the principles of creativity, agency, attunement, embodiment and expression.

With a foundation in Mental Health Counselling, my therapeutic approach primarily draws from Person - Centered and Psychodynamic Perspectives. With the help of other perspectives like Depth and Existential Psychology, Decolonisation, Neurobiology, and Relational and Cultural Therapy, I make space for accessing different layers for the presenting concerns of my clients.

I am extremely passionate about gently challenging the narratives about Normalcy in our

society, of how by expanding our understanding of the word ”Normal”, we can support

populations who are discriminated against because of being different in any given social

construct, or a neurobiological way. My advocacy is all about normalizing the emotions and

experiences which are difficult and often not accepted, and building communities of care,

acceptance and liberation.

My practice of providing Mental Health Counselling and Expressive Arts Therapy lies on the premise of being an Ethical and a Reflexive professional. Supervision, Personal Therapy and Continuous Professional Development are the key ingredients which help me deliver my services ethically.

Grief and Relationship Work specifically is very dear to me and I wish to expand my competency through training in these two areas as I grow in this profession. To expand my knowledge and skills of working with relationships, I have been getting trained in the Gottman Couples Therapy Method.

Some of my personal interests which are very dear to my heart are playing with paint colors and movement. I have spent three years at a Belly Dance School getting trained in this beautiful and liberating dance form. I practice being one with nature and I absolutely love writing and exploring music that speaks to my soul and moves my body. These are hobbies turned into crucial nourishment practices that I indulge in, to support myself, in and out of the therapy room.
